PROF. DR. JAN VAN ERP PHD
Full Professor / Principal Scientist TNO
PROFESSOR OF TANGIBLE USER INTERACTION. NEUROLOGICAL MASTERMIND.
Jan van Erp is Principal Scientist with The Netherlands Organization of Applied Scientific Research TNO and full professor of Tangible User Interaction with the University of Twente, The Netherlands. His background is in human perception, behavior and cognition and in computer scientist. He focuses on the ICT that is easy to understand and that supports people in their performance, safety and strive for happiness. Research topics include Brain Computer Interfaces and multisensory perception and experience.
Jan and other TNO colleagues supported Sensiks in developing their Sensory Reality Pod.
Jan did experiments on board the International Space Station and worked with best-selling authors on the creativity of writing. He is a member of the scientific Board of TNO, president of the EuroHaptics Society, board member of the foundation ICT for Brain, Body and Behavior, is on the editorial board of five scientific journals and holds many international advisory functions.
PROF. DR. ALEXANDER TOET PHD
Chief of Scent / Senior Scientist TNO
SENIOR SCIENTIST, MASTER OF SCENT & COLOR.
Alexander Toet is a senior scientist at The Netherlands Organization of Applied Scientific Research TNO (Soesterberg, the Netherlands). His background is in human and computer vision. His research interests include multimodal image fusion, image quality, computational models of human visual search and detection, and the quantification of visual target distinctness.
He currently investigates the effects of cross-modal perceptual interactions between the visual, auditory, olfactory, and tactile senses on the affective appraisal of (real and virtual) environments and food. He is a Fellow of The International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), a Senior Member of The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a member of the SAE -10 Technical Committee on Laser Safety Hazards.
FREEK VAN ZEIST
Officer of Engineering
DISRUPTOR AND MARVEL OF ENGINEERING.
Freek van Zeist is a true engineer. Focussing and specialising in digitally produced architecture, furniture and interiors, a whole variety of projects followed. At Sensiks his main focus is on developing and using new materials, concepts and engineering marvels in relation to the CNC production technique working towards a new local, circular and biobased industry. He works closely with the design and engineering department to achieve a highly efficient and fast innovation and production process.
Freek is pushing boundaries with innovation driven and circular projects relating to the build environment.
NEW MAKER, CLASSIC ENGINEER.
Tim Castelijn was born in 1985 and started his career in the workshop of a furniture store. He studied computational design at the Faculty of Architecture at the TU Delft and graduated on the subject of digitally fabricated free-form facades.
He worked for two architectural firms, one of which ONL, where his projects involved connecting digital models to the physical world using digital fabrication techniques. From 2008 onwards, he has designed and produced a series of one-off pieces of furniture. At Sensiks he is responsible for the digital design and engineering process of the SRP.
Head of CNC Production
SENIOR SCIENTIST, MASTER OF SCENT & COLOR.
Remco Wiggers is head of CNC production for Sensiks. he is not only responsible for making the cabins but also for giving feedback to the engineers and designers.
The SRP is entirely made by a computer controlled milling machine which works with incredible precision to make sure the pod fits perfectly ‘friction-fit’ as soon as it comes of the machine. Sounds easy when done by a machine, however it still takes lots of (digital) craftsmanship to achieve this type of precision and detail.
For remco nothing beats sitting behind the computer covered in sawdust.
User Interaction & Lighting
THE BRINGER OF LIGHT.
Serge Offermans designs and develops interactive prototypes and installations in collaboration with designers, artists and researchers. Through the design and development of electronics and embedded software, Serge translates ideas into tangible interactive experiences.
Serge has a background in the design of interactive systems and experiences. After receiving his MSc. degree from the department of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology, he obtained his PhD degree on the topic of user-interaction with novel lighting systems in 2016.
Business and Organization Developer
BUSINESS AND ORGANIZATION DEVELOPER.
Klaas Nagel has a deep knowledge of all organizational aspects. He feels challenged to look for improvement in organizations and maybe even more important; in people. With his positive criticism and insight, he never fails to challenge people to aim for a common goal, and go well beyond it.
He makes the most of his network of businesses stimulating co-creation and sustainable partnerships. In short; he opens doors that remain closed to others.
LEX VAN ROSSUM
Coder & Technical Design
CREATIVE CODER & TECHNICAL DESIGN.
Lex van Rossum is a programmer that has a broad knowledge of everything that has got to do something with electricity. As creative coder he is involved in the development of the SRP’s software and the framework of the web based environment. When you visit the Sensiks website; you will visit parts of his work.
During his study to become a Communication and Multimedia Designer he concurrently started studying code in his free time. He became passionate about web based applications, microprocessors, 3D-printing and Augmented- & Virtual Reality.
He is now using that knowledge in order to propel Sensiks to unknown heights and come up with innovative solutions to new challenges.
A TRUE EXPERIENCE JOCKEY.
Jarne Cooijmans is a creator and coder of things. With the knowledge gathered during his time learning he has become a creator with a diversity in his projects. With interests all around the board, from games to hardware, he has a thing for anything technical.
