SENSIKS reached the finals of AXA's Mental Health in the Workplace Challenge. Every year, their Health Tech & You awards discovers, promotes and supports the inventors and innovations in the exciting field of health tech. In 2018, one of the subcategories of this programme is the Mental Health in the Workplace Challenge. SENSIKS is proud to call itself one of the finalists in this all-important category.
About AXA's Health Tech & You Programme
Next to giving employers education on how to reduce and prevent mental disorders like anxiety or depression in the workplace, AXA's Health Tech & You programme discovers, promotes and supports the inventors and innovations in the exciting field of health tech. The innovators that they help often have a special reason for seeking to solve health problems: maybe it’s their desire to improve their fitness or to aide a family member with a life-limiting condition.
"Whatever motivates these individuals and small businesses, AXA's health tech & you awards programme exists to support and champion the thinkers and creators who are shaping the future of healthcare technology right now, making a noticeable difference to the health and wellbeing of our customers today – and for years to come." - AXA Health Tech & You
Mental Health in the Workplace
Mental health problems are increasingly impacting the workplace, with one in four people experiencing a mental health problem in any given year. Factors such as lack of flexible working conditions, lack of work/private boundaries, not having proper breaks and the perception that one has to be the first one in and the last one out of the office all lead to the highest levels of stress ever recorded in the workplace.
In response to the ever-increasing stress in the workplace, SENSIKS developed a pod where people can enjoy full-sensory experiences in a closed environment. The pod provides sensory experiences designed to help people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety as well as more general relaxation in order to help the workforce with stress and burnout in the workplace.
Relaxation Through Sensory Stimulation
In the Sensory Reality Pod, audio-visual content (virtual reality, 360° video and film) is enriched with scent, varied temperature, airflow, vibrations, taste and light frequency, resulting in an immersive mixed reality experience. Feedback on stress levels is received from a biometric headband measuring brain waves, measurement of heart rate and skin conductance.
SENSIKS also received an editorial in AXA's Health Tech Awards Magazine, read the full article below. Or, read more about the three finalists on AXA's website.
