Mental Resilience among first responders
Staying mentally healthy is a must for people who are active in the safety department. Employees who are burdened with ensuring a safe Holland experience high levels of pressure. How do you keep them mentally healthy and deployable? TNO develops methods and tools to improve the functioning of these ‘high risk’ professionals. These tools and methods allow for risk signalling and targeted interventions. They also allow employees to stay in charge of how they deal with stress and to get more insight into their resilience, both on an individual and a team level, making targeted interventions possible. Additionally, they employ solutions that help keep stress levels low.
TNO x SENSIKS
SENSIKS developed one of these solutions. The Sensory Reality Pod uses VR, but also airflow, scent, vibration and light frequencies. In the pod, there are several experiences that relieve stress, and the experiences can be tailored to fit the users need. The pod is connected to heartbeat and breathing sensors, which allows the user to change his surroundings based on how he is feeling. The goal is that users feel relieved levels of stress, which is a great solution for first responders and other people working in the safety & justice department.
TNO and SENSIKS have been teaming up since 2016 to develop innovations for mental resilience and stress reduction.
